Dangerous Driver Hits Limo...
The chauffeur of a limousine working for a hire company in New Hyde Park was killed recently when a drunk driver collided with his limousine. Stanley Rabinowitz always did his best to encourage the safe-ride programs his limo hire company offered, where anyone who had been drinking and didnít want to drive home could call up and get a free ride home.
Rabinowitz was chauffeuring family home from a wedding when his limousine was struck head on by an alleged drunk driver. The chauffeur and a seven year old girl riding in the limousine died. The owner of the limousine hire company knew something was wrong when Rabinowitz didnít answer his radio and after checking his limoís GPS system, the limo hire office saw he had been stopped on the parkway for an hour.
Having sent another chauffeur out to see what was wrong, he was confronted by the crash. The chauffeurs had even received a note on the Friday before the holiday weekend to be extra careful because of the likelihood of there being a higher number of drunk drivers on the roads; an ominous foreshadowing of the weekendís events.
Rabinowitzís Lincoln Royale limousine was hit by the Chevy pickup truck which was travelling the wrong way on the parkway. The damage to the limousine was so bad that emergency workers had to cut a hole in the side of the vehicle to pull the victims out.
With affordable group hire, and even free limousine shuttles between bars and clubs organised by many limousine hire companies in every country and every city, there is no reason why these sorts of accidents should continue to occur. So even if you think you may have a few drinks on a night out with your friends or down at the pub, organise for a limousine ride home and splitting the cost between your mates will be a small price to pay for the safety of the roads.
